I believe that D-Day has the greatest contribution to Canada’s growing independence. D-day was a very important assault by the Allies that needed to succeed. In this crucial battle, Canada is individually given the mission of capturing Juno Beach and successfully does so without Britain’s assistance.  D-Day is a significant battle because it caused the course of the war to be put in favor of the Allies. This battle signifies Canada’s growing independence as Canadian troops were successfully able complete this important task and stand victorious on Juno Beach. The use of skilled tactics and combat exemplified Canada’s capabilities in the midst of an important battle. Canada fought alongside two of the most powerful countries (Britain and USA) as equals, proving that Canada was more than a Colony of Britain.  The win at Juno Beach also strengthened Canada’s reputation in fighting and the involvement in the European Campaign.  Canada exhibited strong military strength and bravery in this victorious battle. Therefore, it has the greatest contribution to Canada’s growing independence.
